asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply what is the constitution of the Plastic Control; how many people are employed in an administrative capacity; what remuneration do they receive; what are their technical qualifications and by whom were they previously employed?

The Plastics Control is administered by a Controller, assisted by a Deputy Controller, who looks after the distribution side of the Control, and an Assistant Controller, who is in charge of the technical side. None of these three officers, who are employed in an administrative capacity, is in receipt of remuneration from the Government. The Controller was a Director of British Xylonite Company, Limited, and Managing Director of B.X. Plastics Limited, a subsidiary Company. The Deputy Controller was a Director of British Industrial Plastics Limited. The Assistant Controller was the head of the Plastics Department of F. A. Hughes and Company Limited. The controlling staff is assisted by three Senior Technical Officers recruited from the plastics industry and a small section of clerks and typists, to a total at the present time of 15.
