asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply what is the staff of the Chemical Control Department?

I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the Chemical Control Board, the staff of which, under the chairman, consists of the following four persons:—

  • 1 Principal (Secretary of the Board),
  • 1 Senior Staff Officer,
  • 1 Personal Assistant to the Chairman, and
  • 1 Shorthand Typist.
The full-time chairman is Mr. F. W. Bain and the members of the Board are the Controllers of the following raw materials Controls:
  • Fertilisers,
  • Industrial Ammonia,
  • Miscellaneous Chemicals,
  • Molasses and Industrial Alcohol,
  • Plastics,
  • Sulphuric Acid,
and other persons whose services may from time to time be available for the consideration of particular problems with which they are concerned. The Secretary is Mr. W. A. M. Edwards.
