56. Sir William Davison

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the fact of the large and increasing number of aeroplanes, military lorries and other war materials which are being manufactured and despatched to Germany from France with the approval of the Vichy Government; and what action is being taken by the British Government in the matter?

Mr. Attlee

Yes, Sir. His Majesty's Government are aware of this traffic, and take due account of it in framing their policy towards Marshal Petain's Government.

Sir W. Davison

Is it not high time that we knew exactly where we stand in regard to the Vichy Government, who are apparently now an ally of our enemies, and are supplying them with all the military requirements they can? May we be assured that the Government are taking this matter actively in hand?
