HC Deb 25 February 1942 vol 378 c204
57. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that although no steps were taken before the Japanese entry into the war to extend reclaiming plant, the research departments of his Ministry have only been instructed during the last two weeks to investigate improved reclaiming processes; and why several months have been allowed to elapse since the attack on Malaya before the Rubber Control Board have taken steps to make themselves cognisant of reclaimed rubber processes?

Sir A. Duncan

Action to extend reclaiming plant was taken without delay, when Japan entered the war, in the light of extensive information which had already been collected. The Ministry's research organisation is continuing to examine all processes in order to see whether any adaptation of the existing plans is required.

Mr. Parker

What steps have actually been taken to investigate these reclaiming processes?
