HC Deb 25 February 1942 vol 378 c208
68. Captain Gammans

asked the Minister of Information what steps he has taken, or proposes to take, to counteract in the United States of America the statements made by Mr. Cecil Brown, of the Columbia Broadcasting System, about the Government and the people of British Malaya in view of the serious reaction these statements are likely to have upon Anglo-American relations?

Mr. Bracken

As much information as possible regarding events in Malaya has been put at the disposal of the American Press. I am sure that the view of the American people upon these events will be a fair one and that the people of each country will be readier to sympathise with the other's difficulties than to condemn each other's failures.
