HC Deb 24 February 1942 vol 378 cc15-6
37. Mr. Mander

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in view of the decision not to permit the further export of parcels of food by individuals to British Forces serving abroad, he will consider making arrangements so that the same restrictions may apply to the sending of articles of food by individuals overseas to individuals in this country, in the interests of fair distribution and the saving of shipping space?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Major Lloyd George)

Yes, Sir; this question is now under review.

Mr. Mander

Does the right hon. and gallant Gentleman realise the unfairness of a system which enables people with wealthy friends abroad to obtain extra food and prevents such gifts being sent to soldiers overseas?

Major Lloyd George

Perhaps the hon. Member will look at my answer.
