asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1) whether, at the present time, vessels of the United Nations have free and unrestricted use of the port of Dakar;

(2) who is now responsible for the defences of the port of Dakar?

Discussions are now in progress between the High Commissioner for French West Africa and the United States authorities at Algiers regarding the use to be made of port and other facilities in French West Africa.
