HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 cc1019-20
31. Major Sir Jocelyn Lucas

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that two young soldiers recently hired a motor-boat for a private commando raid on France; and what restrictions are placed on the hire of boats to prevent them from being used by enemy agents or others anxious to reach the Continent?

Mr. Alexander

Yes, Sir. Various Orders have been made under the Defence Regulations imposing restrictions on the use of boats and providing for their immobilisation in certain areas. I am having inquiries made into the working of these Regulations.
