HC Deb 23 October 1941 vol 374 cc1893-4
33. Sir Robert Young

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that many men are turned down for the various Forces by the medical boards on account of physical disability, and placed in Classes III or IV; and whether he will consult with the War Office, in the interests of the future health of the nation, so that each man should be informed of his particular physical disability, so that if it is anything requiring attention he can consult his own medical doctor or officer?

Mr. E. Brown

I will communicate with my hon. Friend on the matter.

Brigadier-General Clifton Brown

When the right hon. Gentleman is inquiring about men of 40 will he also inquire of the Ministry of National Service, as many men of 40 are being turned down?

Mr. Brown

That is a Question for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service, who is responsible for the medical board organisation.
