HC Deb 15 October 1941 vol 374 cc1357-8
36. Mr. David Adams

asked the Secretary for Mines whether progress has been made towards the establishment of apprenticeship in the coal mining industry?

The Secretary for Mines (Mr. David Grenfell)

The subject has been under discussion with my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Labour and National Service, and I am asking the two sides of the industry to assist us in framing a long-term policy to deal with this very important problem.

Mr. Adams

Does the Minister expect to have a report at an early date?

Mr. Grenfell

Yes, Sir.
