§ 13. Sir Patrick Hannonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement on the work undertaken at the instance of the British Council by the Argentine Association of British Culture, the extent of its activities, and the measure of co-operation that is being developed with local colleges, schools and technical institutes in Argentina?
§ Mr. EdenThe Argentine Association of English Culture is an independent Argentine Society. It is not under the control of the British Council, though, like all the other Anglophil societies in South America, it collaborates closely with the Council. I understand that the Association provides courses in the English language and literature for over 4,000 students.
§ Sir P. HannonWould my right hon Friend say whether the work of this Association and the Institute of British Culture is receiving co-operation from the Argentine authorities?
