§ 36. Mr. Neil Macleanasked the President of the Board of Trade whether there has been progressive production of British films since the outbreak of war, or whether he has considered a reduction of the film quota to the 15 per cent. minimum which the schedule permits?
§ Sir A. DuncanProduction of British films has continued since the outbreak of 594 war, but there has inevitably been a reduction in the number produced, owing in part to other demands on studio space and man power. I recently asked the Cinematograph Films Council to consider the levels of the quotas for long and short films for the next three years. I received their report last week and am considering it.
§ Mr. MacleanCan the right hon. Gentleman say when he is likely to make a pronouncement of his decision on that report?
§ Sir A. DuncanI hope this week.
§ Mr. MacleanIs it not the case that the date when the quota must be revised falls short in a few days?
§ Sir A. DuncanIt will not fall short.
