HC Deb 20 November 1941 vol 376 cc430-1
9. Mr. Craven-Ellis

asked the Minister of Labour why women beer bottlers are not protected under the Restriction of Employment Order who are not employed by beer-producing undertakings, but are doing the same work as women employed by such undertakings who are protected?

Mr. Tomlinson

I assume my hon. Friend has in mind the arrangement under which women registered under the Registration for Employment Order, 1941, who are engaged in beer production are not for the time being being called for selection interview. There is no intention to differentiate as between different kinds of undertakings, although I, am informed that there has been misunderstanding in respect of certain individual firms. Instructions have been issued placing these firms on the same footing as other firms.

Mr. Craven-Ellis

Will that include bottlers who bottle beer from casks?

Mr. Tomlinson

Yes, Sir.
