HC Deb 11 November 1941 vol 374 cc2017-8
9. Sir George Broadbridge

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the total sum received in respect of Part II, the Business Equipment Scheme, of the War Damage Act, covering the two periods for which compulsory premiums arc payable, and the total sum received in respect to Part III of the Voluntary Chattels insurance; and how much has been paid out in respect to claims under Part II and claims under Part III, respectively?

The President of the Board of Trade (Sir Andrew Duncan)

The total amount collected in premiums to 4th November, 1941, under the business scheme, including the farming scheme, was in round figures £37,000,000, and under the private chattels scheme £5,000,000. I regret that it is not in the public interest to give information as to the sums paid in respect of claims.

Sir G. Broadbridge

Can my right hon. Friend tell us what is the balance of cash that remains in hand?
