HC Deb 15 May 1941 vol 371 cc1244-5
33. Mr. Price

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that in districts to which industries have been evacuated there is often an acute shortage of housing; and whether he will take steps to secure that hostels, or some form of temporary buildings, are erected, and that the necessary materials for this purpose are available?

Mr. E. Brown

I would refer to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and National Service to a Question by the hon. Member for Consett (Mr. David Adams) on 25th March last. I am in constant consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service as to the measures to be taken to secure that adequate accommodation is available for transferred war workers.

Mr. Price

Will my right hon. Friend consider the housing shortage in the Forest of Dean, into which area new industries have recently come and with regard to which I wrote him a little while ago?

Mr. Brown

I will discuss the matter with the Minister of Labour and National Service to see whether any action can be taken there.
