HC Deb 11 March 1941 vol 369 cc1144-5
31. Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Minister of Information whether he has any statement to make regarding the new Forces programme wavelength; and whether the good reception obtained at Greenock on the new wavelength corresponds with the information he has as to its reception throughout the country?

Mr. Nicolson

I am grateful to learn that the change of wavelength has led to better reception of the Forces programme at Greenock, and I am glad to say that a similar improvement has been obtained in several other parts of the country. Moreover, it is now possible to devote the new wavelength exclusively to this programme, as the foreign language bulletins which previously had to be transmitted along with it are now dealt with by other means.

Mr. Davidson

Is reception of this programme improved where there is an abnormal rainfall?

Mr. Nicolson

I would not say that.

Mr. Gibson

Can the hon. Member say whether reception in any area depends upon the rainfall?
