HC Deb 15 July 1941 vol 373 cc437-8
32. Mr. Hannah

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his attention has been called to the proposed requisitioning of a certain Highland Folk Museum building; and what steps he is taking to prevent the destruction of many of the exhibits in the only collection of its kind in Scotland and the sacrifice for a temporary need of valuable material for the social history of the North?

Mr. Johnston

Yes, Sir. I hope that it may be possible to find alternative accommodation, and inquiries are being directed to that end.

Mr. Hannah

Do the Government realise the supreme importance of protecting the only folk museum in the whole of Scotland?

Mr. Johnston

The degree of importance attached to this Question is evidenced by my answer.
