HC Deb 03 July 1941 vol 372 c1479
28. Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Home Secretary whether the licence issued to the Excelsior Philanthropic Society, under the House to House Collection Act has been renewed?

Mr. H. Morrison

No, Sir, I decided to discontinue the order, as under war conditions this Society found itself no longer able to serve a charitable purpose. I understand that the work is being conducted on a commercial basis.

Mr. Hall

Is my right hon. Friend aware that this Society has always been conducted on a commercial basis, and that charity has received very little from it at any time during its existence?

Mr. Morrison

I have answered the Question on the Paper, and I thought my hon. Friend would now be happy.
