HC Deb 23 January 1941 vol 368 cc297-8
49. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture, whether, with a view to growing more food throughout this country in 1941, he will confer with the Chancellor of the Exchequer in order to take the necessary steps to provide additional working capital required for this development?

The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. R. S. Hudson)

No, Sir. I would refer my hon. Friend to what I said on this subject in the Debate on 22nd October last.

Mr. De la Bère

Does my right hon. Friend know what is wanted? Is it not to grow the utmost possible food in the least possible time, and to do this must one not have adequate working capital and labour? It is no use issuing thousands of orders and not following them up. May I have an answer? If the Minister of Agriculture does not see fit to answer, I shall have to raise the matter on the Adjournment.
