HC Deb 27 February 1941 vol 369 c607
4. Mr. Cocks

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in considering the calling-up of women to serve the State in war work, he will give priority to women of leisure who do not have to do their own housework?

Mr. Assheton

It will be my right hon. Friend's object to tap new supplies of labour such as that to which my hon. Friend refers. In settling any questions of priority, it will be necessary to safeguard the interests of those who normally depend on industrial employment.

Earl Winterton

When will this much heralded and publicised scheme be brought into operation?

Mr. Assheton

I cannot name the date.
