§ 46. Dr. Littleasked the Prime Minister whether he will move to appoint a Select Committee to inquire into the best 626 methods of applying system and science to the industries and other activities of this country after the war, so that the losses being suffered may be speedily made good and the standard of comfort for the people kept as high as possible?
§ Mr. AttleeMy right hon. Friend the Minister without Portfolio is Chairman of a Committee of Ministers charged with the duty of arranging for the preparation of practical schemes of reconstruction. This Committee's inquiries will cover such problems as those referred to in my hon. Friend's Question, and I understand that the Scientific Advisory Committee, presided over by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, have already been taken into consultation. In these circumstances I do not think it is necessary to consider the appointment of a Select Committee.
