HC Deb 27 February 1941 vol 369 c636
66. Dr. Little

asked the Minister of Supply whether the report on the iron-ore samples from Northern Ireland have been so favourable as to warrant him giving instructions for the work of the industry to be proceeded with at once, thus providing immediate employment for a number of the unemployed?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

The technical reports on the iron measures in the Dechomet area of Northern Ireland have received careful consideration; my right hon. Friend is satisfied that he would not be justified in recommending at this stage the expenditure of public money on development of these deposits.
