HC Deb 19 February 1941 vol 369 c131
5. Mr. Cary

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information to give to the House about the situation in the Far East?

Mr. Butler

As the House is aware, there has recently been increased tension in the Far East over certain events, notably over the dispute between Indo-China and Thailand. The Japanese official spokesman made a statement to the Press yesterday which will no doubt come to the attention of hon. Members. My right hon. Friend has received from the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs a special message in courteous terms and on the same general lines as the statement just referred to. The terms of this communication are at present receiving due consideration.
