§ 6. Miss Eleanor Rathboneasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware of the grievance of temporary civil servants who, having been temporarily released from posts bearing salaries above the limit for unemployment insurance, are nevertheless obliged to pay unemployment insurance contributions even where their salaries are made up by their permanent employers, although they can derive no 1650 benefit from the insurance; and whether he will consider releasing them from this obligation?
§ Mr. BevinNo representations on this point have been made to me by temporary civil servants. The liability to unemployment insurance depends on the employment which the person concerned is actually following, and I do not think it would be proper to allow exemptions on the ground suggested in the Question.
