HC Deb 11 December 1941 vol 376 cc1660-1
57. Sir F. Fremantle

asked the Minister of Health the number of cases of measles this autumn as compared with the last three years?

Mr. E. Brown

The number of cases of measles notified in England and Wales during the 13 weeks ended 29th November, 1941, was 9,689. For the corresponding period in 1940 the number was 134,750. As measles was not a notifiable disease before October, 1939, comparative figures for the years 1938 and 1939 are not available.

Sir F. Fremantle

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that every precaution is taken for dealing with cases when they do occur?

Mr. Brown

Perhaps my hon. Friend will put down a Question about the latest period. He will find the figures very good.

Mr. Thorne

May I ask the doctor whether he ever had measles when he was a baby?
