§ 39. Mr. Sorensenasked the President of the Board of Education whether any recorded comparison exists of the gain in height, weight and health of evacuated children as compared with unevacuated children; and whether any record could be obtained of children evacuated for a considerable period who have had no contact with their parents?
§ Mr. ButlerYes, Sir. Investigations are being held into the gains in height and weight of evacuated children attending the camps conducted by the National Camps Corporation as compared with those of children who have remained in evacuation and neutral areas. To justify any reliable conclusions such investigations must cover a substantial period and the results will not therefore be available for some time to come.
§ Mr. SorensenWhen are these reports likely to be available, and is there any information regarding evacuated children other than those who have gone to camps? Will the right hon. Gentleman also reply to the second part of the Question?
§ Mr. ButlerThat is all the information that I can give at present. It takes a little time for the children to grow.
§ Mr. SorensenHas the right hon. Gentleman observed the last part of the Question?
§ Mr. ButlerThat is a question of personal contacts. I hope to be able to give the information before very long.
