HC Deb 05 August 1941 vol 373 c1778
32. Mr. Bellenger

asked the Secretary of State for War whether soldiers are entitled to carry forward their right to two free travel warrants a year to a later period if it is not convenient to use these warrants within the current year?

Captain Margesson

No, Sir. But cases in which soldiers are unable to use the two free warrants to which they are entitled within the current year could only arise in abnormal circumstances.

Mr. Bellenger

In those abnormal circumstances will they be allowed to carry forward their rights? In answering Question No. 24 the right hon. and gallant Gentleman admitted that certain soldiers undergoing courses might not obtain privilege leave and might not be able to use their warrants in the current year.

Captain Margesson

Those cases are very rare. I do not think we can allow these free travelling warrants to pile up.
