§ 38. Sir J. Mellorasked the Secretary of State for War, how many infantry battalions and training units have been visited by the Standing Committee on Army Administration; and with what results?
§ Captain MargessonNo records have been kept which would enable me to give even approximate figures of visits to units by the Standing Committee on Army Administration, but I can assure my hon. Friend that sub-committees and individual members of the main Committee have' paid many visits to infantry battalions as well as to training and other units. Indeed, a sub-committee under one of the members appointed from outside the War Office works in daily contact with units. I am abundantly satisfied that the efforts of the Committee have led to a substantial easing of the administrative burden of units and formations and that they are resulting in a progressive reduction in the volume of paper work.
