HC Deb 09 April 1941 vol 370 cc1559-60
43. Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Transport when the report will be published of the special investigation in selected areas of the causes of road accidents, as promised by his predecessor on 23rd January, 1940?

Lieut.-Colonel Moore-Brabazon

I cannot trace any promise to publish the reports made on this investigation, and publication is not contemplated. No extraordinary or unexpected factors were revealed. The war-time rise of accidents was clearly due to the difficulty which many people experience in adjusting themselves successfully to the special conditions prevailing.

Mr. Watkins

Will the right hon. and gallant Gentleman not reconsider publishing that report, so that individuals and organisations may make suggestions for reducing the very large number of road casualties?

Lieut.-Colonel Moore-Brabazon

I do not think that the publication of the report would be very helpful. I am quite ready to discuss it with my hon. Friend, and to let him read it.
