HC Deb 17 October 1940 vol 365 cc825-6
32. Mr. Glenvil Hall (for Mr. Keeling)

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that the waste-collecting activities of the Excelsior Philanthropic Society are defeating the salvage efforts of local authorities; and what action he proposes to take?

Mr. H. Morrison

No information on this subject has reached the Home Office, but I understand that some complaints have been made to the Ministry of Supply, and I am in communcation with my right hon. Friend on the subject.

Mr. Hall

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this is causing a good deal of trouble in some of the West Riding constituencies, where this society has gone in and is competing with other local authorities?

Mr. Morrison

I will consult with the Minister of Supply in the matter.
