HC Deb 16 October 1940 vol 365 cc691-2
43. Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture what compensation is available to the owners of agricultural and other horses, respectively, which may be killed or wounded during air raids?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture (Mr. T. Williams)

Under the Government's exist- ing compensation scheme, compensation in respect of livestock, including horses, is assessed on the basis of full market value at the time of the loss and is payable at the end of the war on the highest possible scale compatible with the financial resources of the country at that time.
