HC Deb 09 October 1940 vol 365 c354
6. Mr. Parker

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air why a description of an air battle over Portsmouth, written by Mr. Edward Doran, who is notorious for his pro-Nazi and anti-Semitic activities, was issued to the Press in Air Ministry News Letter Combined, No. 10, on 28th August; and who was responsible for the issue in an official bulletin of a statement by such an individual?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

Mr. Doran's letter was published without any regard to his political antecedents, because it gave a good account which the public were entitled to see of a gallant action by a Spitfire squadron.
