HC Deb 05 November 1940 vol 365 cc1181-2
24. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will have leave and free travelling passes granted to soldiers, whose homes have been seriously affected by raids, to enable them to visit those homes and assist their wives and families to meet the ensuing difficulties?

Mr. Law

As regards the grant of leave, I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Morpeth on 22nd October, of which I am sending him a copy. Soldiers who are granted special leave when their homes have been seriously damaged by bombing will be given free travelling warrants for the purpose, in addition to the normal entitlement to two free warrants annually.
