§ 54. Mr. Wilfrid Robertsasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can state the quota allocated to each county, together with the actual acreage ploughed, during the past season?
Mr. HudsonAs the reply contains a number of figures, I propose, with the hon. Member's permission, to circulate it in the Official Report. I would add that the total additional grassland ploughed amounts in England and Wales to 1,542,236 acres, an excess of 42,000 acres over the target programme of 1½ million acres. When the Scottish and Northern Ireland figures of 220,000 and 307 270,000 acres respectively are added a grand total of 2,034,236 acres is obtained. I hope the House will agree that this total reflects great credit on all concerned in its achievement.
