HC Deb 01 May 1940 vol 360 c715
57. Captain Strickland

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether his attention has been drawn to the remarks, on 24th April, of the chairman of the Coventry bench of magistrates in dismissing summonses brought by the local food control committee against certain licensed retailers of food who had pleaded guilty of charging prices for food in excess of those permitted by the Government's regulations; and what consequential steps he proposes to take?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Yes, Sir. My attention has been drawn to these cases. As the question of obtaining the opinion of the High Court upon certain of them is under consideration, it would not be proper for me to make any comment on the matter.
