HC Deb 13 March 1940 vol 358 cc1171-2
18. Mr. Levy

asked the Secretary of State for Air what is the daily ration of members of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force; whether it includes a light supper dish; and, if so, whether a similar supper dish is provided for men in the fighting services?

Sir K. Wood

The standard mess ration for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, like that for airmen, consists partly of issues in kind and partly of allowances in money. For both airmen and women, the money allowance includes an allowance for supper; and supper is provided as part of the normal messing arrangements.

Mr. Levy

Is my information correct that women receive four meals each day, while men only receive three, and that that is why the women are putting on this extra weight?
