81. Mr. Rostron Duckworthasked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that relatives and friends are sending to soldiers abroad at high rates of postage commodities which such soldiers can buy in those countries in which they are serving, he will consider issuing a statement indicating what such commodities are, so that friends may either send the money for purchase or select some other gifts which are not obtainable under the circumstances?
§ Sir V. WarrenderI think that this is a matter which is best left for arrangement between the soldiers themselves and their relatives and friends.
Mr. DuckworthCould not a considerable saving be effected by such a national scheme as has been suggested? Will my hon. Friend consider the matter?
§ Sir V. WarrenderIt would be difficult either to lay down hard and fast rules or to make out a list of commodities.
