HC Deb 13 March 1940 vol 358 cc1200-1
80. Mr. Loftus

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the censorship has a financial section to supervise correspondence and cables with the object of detecting evasion of exchange restrictions; and whether the censors concerned are examining carefully all instructions from abroad for the transfer of sterling from one inland account to another inland account?

Sir V. Warrender

The answer to both parts of the Question is in the affirmative.

Mr. Loftus

Can my hon. Friend assure me that there is a close liaison being kept between the censorship and the Treasury Department in the control of foreign exchange about such types of correspondence?

Sir V. Warrender

Yes, all necessary precautions are taken.
