asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will give the number of applications for special assistance received by the War Service Grants Advisory Committee to latest available date; the number of applications granted, and those refused; the number of allowances now in issue, and their weekly cost?

Up to 6th March, 1940, the number of applications received was 83,907 Grants have been made in 39,260 cases, and have been refused in 30,651 cases. The weekly cost of grants in payment is approximately £15,000.
