HC Deb 12 March 1940 vol 358 c983
1. Sir Gifford Fox

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, at the present time any enemy aliens are employed in military hospitals in this country; and whether it is proposed to continue the practice indefinitely?

Mr. Stanley

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative; the second part, therefore, does not arise.

2. Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a number of serving military officers at the present time employ servants who are enemy aliens; and whether, in view of the undesirability of this practice, he will issue an order to the effect that such practice must cease?

Mr. Stanley

I do not think a general order is required, but the employment will be forbidden in any particular case in which such action is considered to be necessary.
