HC Deb 20 June 1940 vol 362 c237
58. Dr. Little

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, as there is cold-storage accommodation in Northern Ireland for only 1,050 tons which, under present conditions, is wholly inadequate, he will provide additional cold-storage facilities both in the interests of Great Britain and Northern Ireland?

Mr. Boothby

The cold-storage accommodation in Northern Ireland will hold much more than the quantity given in the Question. It is not in the public interest to state what the true figure is. As much additional cold-storage space as possible is being constructed at the present time, and my Noble Friend's considered opinion is that it is better to construct it in Great Britain, where the reserves are needed.
