HC Deb 20 February 1940 vol 357 c1149
60. Commander King-Hall

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how much money is allowed to His Majesty's Stationery Office each year for the purpose of promoting the sales of Government publications?

Captain Crookshank

At present the sum of £1,050 a year is allowed to His Majesty's Stationery Office for advertising its publications in the Press. In addition about £4,500 a year is spent at discretion on printing, duplicating and distributing catalogues, circulars, lists, etc.

Mr. Mander

How much of that is spent in drawing attention to the OFFICIAL REPORT?

Captain Crookshank

I dealt with that matter in the last Reply.

Mr. Mander

Was not the answer "practically nothing"?
