HC Deb 30 April 1940 vol 360 cc531-2
35. Mr. Lawson

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a man was charged before the Kent magistrates on 22nd April with wearing an officer's uniform without permission; that the man concerned had worn the uniform for two months, although he was not a member of the Forces; that evidence was given by the representative of a firm which supplies such uniforms that anyone can purchase one without question; and, in view of this case which reveals obvious dangers to the State, what steps he proposes to take to put an end to such a situation?

Mr. Stanley

As was stated by my hon. Friend the Financial Secretary in answer to a Question on this subject on Thursday last, the matter is being considered in consultation with the other Departments concerned.
