HC Deb 30 April 1940 vol 360 cc522-3
27. Mr. G. Strauss

asked the Minister of Economic Warfare whether, since the invasion of Denmark and Norway, all shipping destined to ports in Denmark and German-occupied Norway has been subjected to the same contraband control and treated in the same manner as if it were proceeding to Germany?

Mr. Cross

Since the German invasion of Denmark and Norway no shipping has been allowed to proceed to ports in Denmark or German occupied Norway. Cargoes on ships destined for Denmark have been seized as prize. The disposal of cargoes destined for Norway is being decided by the Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission in London in consultation with His Majesty's Government.
