HC Deb 14 September 1939 vol 351 c745
1. Mr. Stephen

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that owing to the air-raid signal on 6th September many people were late at their work; and whether he intends to introduce legislation to see that they are not penalised by loss of wages for such periods when their failure to work is due to circum stances outwith their control?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Brown)

This question is under discussion in various industries, and I understand that in some cases agreed arrangements have already been made to meet the situation. There is no present intention of introducing special legislation.
