HC Deb 26 October 1939 vol 352 c1539
12. Mr. Banfield

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has a statement to make as to legislation to enable the machinery of the Trade Board Act to be speeded up?

Mr. E. Brown

Consultations with employers' and workers' representatives are in progress with a view to early legislation.

Mr. Banfield

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that because of the increase in the cost of living and the rise in prices these trades under trade boards will have to make applications for increases, and that the present procedure is too slow?

Mr. Brown

The usual time is taken. When the consultations are completed we shall be ready to introduce legislation at the earliest practicable time.
