HC Deb 26 October 1939 vol 352 cc1538-9
16. Mr. Jackson

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will give the result of his consultation with the Minister of Agriculture concerning the exemption from military service of all classes of men at present employed in agriculture until this winter's ploughing-up programme is completed?

Mr. E. Brown

In accordance with earlier announcements, men employed in agriculture who were required to register under the Military Training Act last June have been held back until November and will be called up shortly; those who became liable under the Proclamation made on 1st October will be held back until next January.
