HC Deb 17 October 1939 vol 352 cc654-5
5. Mr. Whiteley

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will consider the reopening of the convalescent homes that have been provided and equipped by the Miners Welfare Committee for injured miners, which have been closed since the commencement of the war, having regard to the extra stress and strain miners are being called upon to put forward under war conditions, which necessitate all facilities for recuperation being placed at their disposal?

Mr. Lloyd

If the management committees desire the release of the miners' convalescent homes which have been requisitioned, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health will meet the request if it is possible to do so. Two such homes have been already released.
