HC Deb 11 October 1939 vol 352 cc313-4
20. Major-General Sir Alfred Knox

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that railway companies have deducted 25 per cent. for the unexpired value of a season ticket when a soldier called up for service applied for a refund; and whether he will take steps to see that this practice is discontinued, and that in cases when the deduction has been made the sum shall be refunded?

The Minister of Transport (Captain Wallace)

I am not aware that the railway companies have deducted 25 per cent. of the unexpired value of season tickets surrendered by soldiers called up for service; and if my hon. and gallant Friend will give me particulars of any case he has in mind I will certainly investigate it.
