HC Deb 16 November 1939 vol 353 cc820-1
46. Miss Ward

asked the Prime Minister whether, in order to protect the country from a recurrence of the after math of the last war, he will examine the possibility of immediately introducing legislation to prohibit any increase in the price of any commodity in order to prevent any increase in the cost of living and subsequent legitimate demands made on industry and the resources of the nation while undertaking to meet from the Exchequer any increase in the cost of imports?

Sir J. Simon

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which the Prime Minister gave on 8th November last in reply to a similar question which she addressed to him.

Miss Ward

While appreciating the answer which my right hon. Friend has given, I would ask whether he can say definitely whether the proposal is receiving consideration now?

Sir J. Simon

I believe that the Prime Minister has given an assurance that all relevant proposals are receiving consideration.
